Lake View House alteration

This Queenstown holiday home addition/alteration was an interesting project. The bones of the 1970's design were fun and quirky and definitely worth enhancing, though in need of modernizing. Through the design process I worked closely with the Sydney based clients. We sought the best way to open up the house to the views and reduce some of the level changes that were an interesting but now redundant feature of the house. Alterations were minimal- the addition of an internal access to the garage, and the enclosure of existing deck areas to create single level access to spaces. The kitchen was also opened up to the dining and living areas and of course to the mountain views. Replacement of the existing windows gave the opportunity to install large areas of windows to maximize the mountain views. The house now feels completely different to when we began and really is special.
